Tyler Beller-Schilling grew up in Princeton ID, and early on in his life developed a love for music. He was first introduced to country music, and folk music from his parents, which was what they listened to in the home. When he reached elementary school, he was exposed to jazz and classical music. He started the clarinet in 2nd grade and then shortly after, picked up the alto saxophone. When he reached high-school age his love for jazz really took-off with having opportunities to perform in the Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival. He graduated from The College of Southern Idaho where he holds an Associates in music. At The College of Southern Idaho he studied with saxophonist, Dr. Ben Britton who holds degrees from Eastman School of Music as well as the Manhattan Conservatory of Music. Now at The University of Idaho, Tyler is currently a interdisciplinary major with a double minor in music and jazz studies. Currently, he is studying with Dr. Vanessa Sielert from the University of Idaho. She holds degrees from Baylor University and The University of Illinois Urbana-Champagne and The University of Idaho as well. Along with being a tenor saxophone player by trade, Tyler also is studying jazz guitar with Dr. Will St. Peter who holds his degrees from The University of North Texas and The University of Maine. A young, versatile, up and coming-musician, Tyler hopes to continue playing music after college and to inspire the youth to learn and play music.
